Bio: Dr. Chris Gänshirt is an architect, author and educator based in Berlin, Germany. He served as a Senior Associate Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China, where he started and lead the MArch programme until achieving RIBA part 2 accreditation. He has been visiting professor at The University of Hong Kong, and at Kassel University (Germany). He taught at Virginia Tech, Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), Hanover University, and the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU Cottbus). He was a project architect in the office of Álvaro Siza in Oporto, Portugal, and worked with architect José Paulo dos Santos in Oporto. He is registered with the Berlin Chamber of Architects since 1996, when he set up his own practice. He co-edited the Internet architectural theory magazine [www.cloud-cuckoo.net] and published in magazines, journals, and national newspapers like Archithese, Bauwelt, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Rundschau, Stadtbauwelt, and L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui. He is lecturing and a visiting critic at architecture schools internationally.
